Carolyn: I agree, talk about a dysfunctional relationship.

Jackie - Thanks - I'd be interested to see what the Parisians do to celebrate this holiday - maybe a topic for a post next year. Thanks for the idea!

Amber - Thank you. I wonder too, I'm curious too. Hope you are having fun there - NZ is one of my favorite places.

wow I've learned a lot today. Halloween wasn't that popular in France during my childhood. It's become more popular in Paris now in recent years amongst teenagers and adults.

Phyllis - I cannot believe you only just tried candy corn. I've never been a big fan, but the sweet salty combo of those little guys mixed with peanuts is addicting.

Gera - Glad to have offered you up a sweet treat! =)

Zerrin - its season is fast approaching and cannot get here soon enough to suit my niece, let me tell you. The culture and all the different variances are indeed interesting.

Sophia - well you could have a halloween themed b-day party, maybe?

Sophie - Thanks! Glad you liked it,

Claudia - I may still dawn a costume - no competing fairy though =) I suspect I am to blame on the garden fairy costume - I sent her a book on fairies for her birthday, which she loved to the point her parents are now tired of the book - must hunt for a new one. We are now continuously taught lessons on fairies - for example, do you know that they live between the cracks in the sidewalk? I walk around the cracks when I'm with her,

Brenda - ah tough luck trying to celebrate England - maybe a quick jaunt to Ireland =) My nephew just turned 1, and I think he's a pumpkin - . Kids are so cute at that age. There's a neighborhood here in SF that closes its streets and is kids only - the young ones, they go all out - the garages become haunted houses and everyone dresses up, a nice safe place for all the little devils to run loose - that to me is the best time of the year. Although you may be able to start a new tradition saying that at this age, the candy is meant for the adults. =) Best of luck and I cannot wait to read about this adventure.

I got Roman a little devil constume and can't wait to put it on him! Sadly, England leaves a lot to be desired in terms of parties and trick-or-treating. Not nearly as big here as in the States. But I guess it might look a little self-serving to take a 6 month-old trick-or-treating anyway, right? :)

I love Halloween and adore reading of its traditions. I have always loved the Jack O Lantern story and am so pleased to be reminded of it! Grand post and Happy Halloween or "boo" to you. And methinks - you can still don a costume! (But I love the garden fairy idea - how unique!)

Cool! My birthday is just a few days before Halloween. I never got to really celebrate Halloween though. It's not an "asian thing"...sigh...
